Remove the seeds from the dates and mince them. Put them in a bowl and pour in the boiling water. Let them cool.
Meanwhile crush the walnut kernels. Beat butter with egg and sugar, until smooth.
Make a well with the flour. Put the butter compost and the dates with the water into the well, knead it.
Add walnuts and baking powder and work the mixture into a dough.
Shape into a loaf 40cm long, put on a buttered baking pan and bake in preheated 180° C (356 F) oven 30 minutes.

150ml water
100g walnut kernels
1 egg
40g butter
150g sugar
500g all-purpose flour
15g baking powder
